Uses

Indicated for depression, anxiety, and insomnia. Low-dose formulations (3–6 mg) are approved specifically for sleep maintenance insomnia.

Dosage & Administration

Depression/anxiety: 75–150 mg/day, up to 300 mg if needed. For insomnia: 3–6 mg nightly.

Side Effects & Warnings

Drowsiness, weight gain, and dry mouth are common. Serious: QT prolongation, urinary retention, and confusion in elderly. Avoid MAOIs and alcohol.
